Summer Anxiety and Loneliness: Why You Feel This Way (And How to Change It)

Summer is often associated with feeling happier: More light. More time outside. More connection. And for many people, it does lift their mood. But for others, anxiety and loneliness can feel even stronger in the summer. Because when everything around you looks bright and full of life, it can highlight even more when that’s not how you feel inside.

Why Anxiety and Loneliness Can Feel More Intense in the Summer

You might notice yourself comparing more. Seeing people out with friends, couples enjoying time together, families on holiday…and feeling lonely, disconnected, or not quite part of it.

And then the mind steps in.

“Why don’t I have that?”, “What’s wrong with me?”, “No one loves me!”

This is often how anxiety and loneliness begin to build — not just because of what’s happening around you, but because of what it seems to mean about you.

At a deeper level, your mind is responding based on patterns it has learned over time.

If you’ve picked up beliefs like:

  • I’m not good enough

  • I don’t belong

  • I’m different

  • It's not available to me

Then moments where connection is more visible can activate those feelings more strongly.

(If you’d like to understand more about how these patterns form, you can read more here: https://www.cathy-jenkins.com/what-is-rtt)

“I’ll Just Have to Cope With It”

Over time, this can start to feel familiar.

You keep going, doing what needs to be done…but inside it feels exhausting, constant, hard to switch off.

And it can start to feel like:“I’ll just have to cope like this.”

But that isn’t who you are.

It’s a pattern.

And patterns can change.

How RTT Helps With Summer Anxiety and Loneliness

This is exactly what I work with using RTT® (Rapid Transformational Therapy).

Rather than just talking about how you feel, we look at what’s driving it underneath.

Because when you understand why something is there…you can begin to change it in a way that feels natural and lasting.

RTT works with the subconscious mind — where these beliefs and emotional responses are stored.

When that level shifts, people often notice they feel:

  • freer

  • calmer

  • less stuck in their thoughts

  • more comfortable being themselves

  • more open to connection

Not because they’ve “tried harder”…but because what’s underneath has changed.

It Doesn’t Have to Stay This Way

If you’ve been experiencing summer anxiety and loneliness, it’s not a sign that something is wrong with you.

It’s your mind responding in a way it has learned.

And that can change.

There is a way to feel calmer, freer, and more at ease in yourself… and to start doing the things that genuinely make you happy — not just in summer, but all year round.
